Pack for the full 180.
The crew’s advice is simple: prepare for the things that can end your day early. A spare belt or chain won’t help if it’s still sitting at home.
Protect the rider.
Check the official gear requirements: a DOT-approved full-face helmet, ankle-covering shoes or boots, a long-sleeve jersey and long pants. Gloves and goggles are highly recommended.
Prepare the bike.
Bring the correct spare belts and chains for your setup. Check brakes, chain alignment, fasteners and your handlebar kill switch before heading out.
Bring the basics.
Pack tools, water, food and camping supplies. Bernie’s pick: a tool kit you can carry on the bike. Choose parts that fit your specific build.
Shop the GPS Racing Tool Kit →The episode also covers on-site parts support, race-day food, merch and the in-person TrailMaster MB200 raffle benefiting Teen Life. Hear the crew’s details in the episode and check with the team at the event.
The road to Mini Mayhem
didn’t go to plan.
Bernie returns from the Minibike Coalition road trip with a story that goes far beyond the highlight reel. The crew talks about reaching Mini Mayhem and the coast, carburetor trouble with changing elevation, mountain routes, engine failures and the support crew’s role when plans fall apart.
They also look at what another attempt could do differently: route planning, realistic mileage, repair time and having the right spare parts. It’s a useful conversation for anyone preparing a minibike for a long day—even if your next challenge is three hours at the ranch.
