FRP FX125 Big Wheel 125cc Dirt Bike
The FRP Moto FX125 Big Wheel is a full-size youth and adult-oriented recreational dirt bike powered by a Zongshen 125cc four-stroke engine. Its 17-inch front and 14-inch rear wheels, 33.9-inch seat height, 13.2 inches of ground clearance, hydraulic disc brakes, four-speed manual transmission, electric starter, and backup kick starter make it a substantial step up from automatic mini bikes and smaller pit bikes.
The Big Wheel chassis provides more ground clearance, a taller riding position, and improved rollover capability on ruts, roots, rocks, and uneven trails compared with the FX125 Small Wheel. It is best suited to riders who properly fit its taller seat height and are ready to learn or already understand clutch-and-gear operation.
Choose the value-focused Basic model or upgrade to the Pro model for adjustable hand levers, a digital dashboard, a headlight with high and low beam, and an adjustable rear shock. Both versions use the same 125cc engine, four-speed transmission, Big Wheel chassis, hydraulic brakes, and electric-plus-kick starting system.
Why Choose the FX125 Big Wheel?
- Zongshen 125cc four-stroke engine: Delivers a manufacturer-rated 8.7 horsepower for recreational trail and off-road riding.
- Four-speed manual transmission: A true clutch-operated, four-up gearbox helps riders develop full-size motorcycle skills.
- Electric and kick start: Convenient push-button starting with a mechanical backup starter.
- 17-inch/14-inch wheel package: Larger wheels roll over rough terrain more effectively than the FX125 Small Wheel.
- 13.2 inches of ground clearance: Provides additional clearance for uneven trails and off-road obstacles.
- Hydraulic disc brakes: Dual-piston front and single-piston rear calipers provide controlled braking performance.
- Full-length seat: Allows the rider to shift body position while cornering, climbing, descending, and navigating changing terrain.
- Basic and Pro choices: Select the equipment level that fits the rider’s needs and budget.
- Up to 265-pound rated load: A stronger, larger platform than many entry-level youth dirt bikes.
Basic vs. Pro: Which FX125 Big Wheel Should You Buy?
| Feature | Big Wheel Basic | Big Wheel Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $999.99 | $1,099.99 |
| Engine and transmission | 125cc, 4-speed manual | 125cc, 4-speed manual |
| Wheel size | 17-inch front / 14-inch rear | 17-inch front / 14-inch rear |
| Hand levers | Standard | 6-position adjustable |
| Dashboard | Not equipped | Full digital dashboard |
| Headlight | Not equipped | High/low beam |
| Rear shock | 310mm fixed shock | 310mm adjustable shock |
| Best choice for | Best value and essential riding equipment | Riders wanting added adjustability, instrumentation, and lighting |
Our recommendation: Select the Basic when price and mechanical simplicity are the priorities. Select the Pro if the rider will benefit from adjustable lever reach, an adjustable rear shock, an instrument display, and a headlight. The Pro headlight does not make the motorcycle street legal.
FX125 Big Wheel vs. FX125 Small Wheel
| Specification | FX125 Big Wheel | FX125 Small Wheel |
|---|---|---|
| Wheel size | 17-inch front / 14-inch rear | 14-inch front / 12-inch rear |
| Seat height | 33.9 inches | 28.1 inches |
| Ground clearance | 13.2 inches | 11.8 inches |
| Approximate weight | 163.9 pounds | 150 pounds |
| Rear shock length | 310mm | 260mm |
| Front brake caliper | Dual-piston hydraulic | Single-piston hydraulic |
| Drive chain | #428 | #420 |
| Riding character | Taller, more stable, and better suited to rougher terrain | Lower, lighter, and easier to manage at lower speeds |
| Basic price | $999.99 | $799.99 |
| Pro price | $1,099.99 | $899.99 |
Both wheel configurations use the same 125cc engine, four-speed manual transmission, electric-plus-kick starting system, manufacturer-estimated top speed, and 265-pound maximum rated load. Choose by rider fit, experience, and terrain rather than age alone. A rider should be able to reach the controls, support the motorcycle when stopped, operate the clutch and brakes correctly, and manage its weight without assistance.
Who Is the FX125 Big Wheel For?
The FX125 Big Wheel is intended for a physically capable rider who fits its 33.9-inch seat height and has sufficient maturity, judgment, coordination, and training to operate a clutch-equipped off-road motorcycle. The owner’s manual recommends riders be at least 16 years old. Age alone does not determine safe fit.
This is a good choice for recreational riders moving up from a smaller pit bike or automatic mini bike, as well as newer riders who want to learn a conventional manual clutch and four-speed gearbox. It is not appropriate for a child who cannot securely support the motorcycle, comfortably reach every control, or understand clutch, throttle, shifting, and braking operation.

Assembly and First-Ride Preparation
This dirt bike is shipped partially assembled in a freight crate. Final assembly, inspection, adjustment, fluid verification, and pre-delivery preparation are required before the engine is started or the motorcycle is ridden. Mechanical knowledge and motorcycle-specific tools may be required. GoPowerSports strongly recommends final preparation by a qualified motorcycle or powersports technician.
- Read the complete owner’s manual and all warning labels.
- Inspect the freight crate and motorcycle for concealed or visible shipping damage.
- Complete all required assembly using the correct hardware and torque specifications.
- Confirm engine-oil level before starting. Do not assume the engine contains the correct amount of ride-ready oil.
- Use fresh unleaded gasoline meeting the requirements in the documentation supplied with the motorcycle.
- Inspect brakes, controls, clutch adjustment, chain tension and lubrication, spokes, steering, suspension, fasteners, wiring, fuel system, and tires.
- Set cold tire pressure to the manufacturer-specified range and confirm both tires and tubes are undamaged.
- Test all controls and braking operation at walking speed in a clear, controlled area.
- Follow the manufacturer’s break-in and maintenance instructions.
The manual calls for frequent maintenance appropriate to an off-road motorcycle, including checking the oil before every ride and changing it approximately every 15 riding hours. Severe, wet, dusty, muddy, or high-load use may require service more often.
