Build an Affordable Full-Size Mini Bike

The Rascal Lite 98cc Mini Bike Kit is one of the most economical ways to build a full-size, vintage-style mini bike. It combines our popular American-made Rascal frame with a dependable 98cc pull-start engine, black steel wheels, 14" V-tread tires, a mechanical rear disc brake, and a simple #35 chain drivetrain.

The included 98cc engine produces approximately 3 horsepower, providing a more manageable recreational setup than a high-powered 212cc mini bike. It is a great option for casual riding, newer riders under responsible adult supervision, or builders who want the full-size Rascal platform without immediately stepping into the power and complexity of a performance engine.

Important: This is an unassembled mini bike kit. Tools, mechanical knowledge, assembly, adjustment, and a complete safety inspection are required before operation.

Finish note: The selected finish applies to the Rascal main frame and rigid front fork. The handlebars and other kit components are supplied in their normal product finishes unless otherwise stated. Powder coating may need to be carefully removed from certain holes, threads, or mounting surfaces during assembly.

The Rascal Lite now includes black 6" steel front and rear wheels paired with 145x70-6 V-tread tires. The black wheels complement the optional glossy-black frame and fork while retaining the rugged, traditional styling of the Rascal Lite.

Future Engine Upgrade Compatibility

The Rascal frame uses a common slotted small-block engine mounting pattern and can accommodate several larger engines, including many 196cc, 212cc, 224cc, and 225cc models.

A larger engine is not a direct engine-only swap. Converting the Rascal Lite to a larger engine may require a different clutch or torque converter, different chain and rear sprocket, fuel-system changes, an aftermarket intake and exhaust, brake upgrades, and additional fitment or drivetrain modifications.

Carefully plan the complete engine, drivetrain, brake, intake, exhaust, and fuel-system configuration before beginning a larger-engine conversion.

Optional 98cc Intake and Exhaust Parts

The following components may be used when modifying the 98cc engine's original intake or exhaust configuration:

Modification note: Changing the original intake or exhaust configuration may require adjustment, tuning, additional hardware, or minor fitment work. Modified engines should be carefully inspected before operation, and modifications may affect the engine warranty.

Assembly Information

• This mini bike arrives as an unassembled kit and is not ready to ride out of the box.
• Basic hand tools, mechanical knowledge, and adult assembly are required.
• Some holes may need to be cleaned or opened slightly during assembly.
• Builders selecting bare steel should mock up the complete mini bike before applying paint or powder coat.
• Minor alignment, spacing, chain-length, brake, and cable-routing adjustments may be necessary.
• Powder coating may need to be carefully removed from holes, threads, or mounting surfaces.

Required Pre-Ride Inspection

Before operating the mini bike, an experienced adult or qualified mechanic should verify the following:

• Engine oil has been added before starting the engine
• Throttle opens smoothly and returns automatically when released
• Engine kill switch shuts off the engine properly
• Brake lever, cable, caliper, and disc operate correctly
• Steering moves freely without binding
• Front and rear axles are properly tightened
• Chain is aligned, properly tensioned, and securely connected
• Clutch guard and all other guards are installed
• Engine mounting hardware and all frame hardware are secure
• Tires are properly inflated and free of damage
